For Women’s History Month, we are celebrating women of Jewish heritage. Join Emerge President A’shanti Gholar in a conversation with three dynamic Emerge women: Vermont Congresswoman Becca Balint, Vermont State Senator Kesha Ram Hinsdale, and California Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan.
- Not only is Congresswoman Balint Vermont’s first woman and openly LGBTQ+ person elected to Congress, she is also a second-generation Holocaust survivor. Her grandfather was killed during the Holocaust leading her father to immigrate to the U.S. later on.
- State Senator Kesha Ram Hinsdale is the first woman of color to serve in the Vermont State Senate and also Co-Founded Emerge Vermont. She is the daughter of a Jewish mother and Hindu father.
- Assemblymember Bauer-Kahan is the granddaughter of refugees who fled from Austria to America to escape the Holocaust.
We are fortunate to have another incredible leader of Jewish heritage joining us as well, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff. He and Emerge President A’shanti Gholar will kick off our event with an opening conversation about uplifting Jewish voices. You won’t want to miss it!
