Since 2002, Emerge has trained more than 4,500 Democratic women to run for office and there are more than 1000 Emerge alumnae currently in elected office.  

Emerge America is seeking a high-energy, organized, and detail-oriented Development Coordinator to join our team. This entry-level position is the perfect opportunity for the right person to gain development experience in fundraising, donor relations, communications, and events management. The  Development Coordinator will be responsible for both high-level and low-level tasks, administrative operational support, and task coordination within the Development Department. This position will report to Emerge’s Director of Development. Join the Emerge team and contribute to our mission of increasing the number of Democratic women in public office.

Responsibilities: 

Development Support:
  • Provide logistical and operational support to fundraising team; 
  • Ongoing data entry including entering contributions, pledges, and relevant donor information;
  • Perform mail merges and ensure all gifts are acknowledged within the designated timeframe;
  • Pull contribution reports and contact lists from NGP/EveryAction; 
  • Assist in creating and disseminating annual appeals and other fundraising mailings;
  • Provide support for events which includes creating and managing materials, drafting outreach  language, keeping event documents updated with the amount raised, pledges, and other pertinent  information;
  • Assist with donor research as needed;
  • Answer phone and email inquiries regarding contributions, acknowledgments, and events.
Administrative Support:
  • Provide administrative and project support to the Chief Development Officer and other members of  the Development team; assist in all organizational tasks, as needed;
  • Retrieve, open, and prioritize mail; 
  • Support maintenance of computer filing systems; 
  • Perform basic accounting tasks, such as documenting and submitting deposits, reimbursements, and receipts
  • Create and maintain excellent filing and administrative systems; 
  • Other tasks as needed.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm for the advancement of Democratic women in politics; 
  • Proven track record of excellent follow-through and accountability; 
  • Outstanding organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail; 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and keep track of multiple projects; 
  • Ability to create and maintain friendly and professional relationships with staff, key stakeholders,  and donors; 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; 
  • Ability to think creatively and work independently; 
  • Excellent time management skills; 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; 
  • Proficient with Google Docs and Google Sheets; 
  • Excellent web and technology skills and comfort troubleshooting with technology;
  • Comfortable learning new technical/computer skills, as they arise.

Preferred but not required:

  • A minimum of 1 year of full-time work experience in a professional setting; 
  • Experience working in non-profit development; 
  • Experience with NGP/EveryAction.

Job Schedule & Location 

The Development Coordinator must be based in the Emerge headquarters in San Francisco. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Salary and Benefits

Emerge offers a competitive compensation and benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision,  short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, and 401k retirement plan. We also offer a  generous PTO plan and the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of mission-driven people. Salary  Range: $45,000-$50,000
