Data Intern

Emerge is seeking a Data Intern. Are you interested in learning more about how data practitioners support programs to elect women of the New American Majority?

The Data Internship position is an hourly position capped at 20 hours per week and reports to the Data Manager. The position can be based anywhere in the United States.

Since 2002, Emerge has trained 5,000 Democratic women to run for office and there are more than 1,000 Emerge alums currently in elected office.

Responsibilities

Examples of Projects You May Work On

  • Research for political power mapping to support strategic recruitment
  • Build reports or conduct research around political events, meetings, and trainings
  • List building in NGP for marketing, recruiting, and reporting purposes
  • Maintain election trackers and dashboards

Who You Are

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about building a pipeline of women to run for office. The ideal candidate will be attentive to detail, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be excited to learn. While experience in a similar role in the political or advocacy sector is not required, a commitment to the advancement of Democratic women in politics is.

More specifically, you will have or be most or all of the following:

  • You have excellent interpersonal skills, including competency working in diverse teams to create an equitable and inclusive environment;
  • You demonstrate a willingness to learn and when faced with a new challenge you dive in and ask questions as needed;
  • You are committed to working collaboratively with members of the Data Team and other departments; and
  • You are passionate about working with women candidates and the advancement of women and the New American Majority.

Other Qualifications

  • Experience working on a campaign
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent research and analytic skills
  • Experience using and manipulating datasets like election and census data
  • Experience using Google Sheets, NGP-VAN, Python, Redshift SQL

Salary

The salary for this position is $17 per hour for a max of 20 hours per week. The position will be a short-term role for 16 weeks.
