Emerge America and Run for Something Announce Partnership

The organizations will work together to recruit, train and support Democratic women candidates under 40

Washington, D.C.—Emerge America and Run for Something announced today that they are entering a formal partnership to support millennial, Democratic women who want to run for office. Emerge America is the nation’s premier organization that recruits and trains Democratic women to run for office. Run for Something is one of the leading organizations recruiting and supporting diverse progressives under the age of 40 to run for down-ballot races in order to build a bench for the future. The organizations will work together to create a support pipeline for millennial candidates, who will benefit from the wide-ranging expertise they can provide.

“With an unprecedented number of Democratic women stepping forward to run for office, it’s more important than ever for us to work together to provide them with the most comprehensive resources and support possible,” said Andrea Dew Steele, Founder and President of Emerge America. “Emerge America has a 15-year track record of recruiting, training and providing a powerful network to Democratic women who want to run for office. And Run for Something has infused incredible energy into this field and the recruitment and support of millennial candidates. I’m confident that together we will reach even more Democratic women who are ready to run and take back our country.”

Ross Morales Rocketto, co-founder of Run for Something said, “Thousands of people are signing up to run–now, let’s give them the tools they need to get started! Our country is at a crossroads and more than ever, it’s critical for new voices to be heard and new names to be on the ballot. Run for Something is excited about being a driving force for this movement alongside Emerge America and changing the game together.”

Emerge America and Run for Something both have proven track records when it comes to preparing candidates to run and helping them win. Since 2002, Emerge America has trained more than 3,000 Democratic women to run for office. In 2017, 152 of the 208 Emerge alumnae that have appeared on general election ballots won their races—a 73 percent win rate. Run for Something has recruited 15,000 people to run since Jan. 21, 2017. This year, 50 percent of their endorsed candidates won their races.

Earlier this year, both organizations were endorsed by Hillary Clinton’s PAC, Onward Together.
