“The New American Majority is Here.”

Washington, D.C. – Today, Emerge officially kicked off the 2022 election cycle with a new video highlighting the women who are repowering political structures nationwide as part of the ‘New American Majority,’ the Black, Brown, and Indigenous women, women of color, LGBTQ+ women, young women, and unmarried women who represent a growing political force in American politics. Emerge is committed to reaching 100,000 of these women by 2035.

“We’re entering a battle for the direction of this country, and we know that Democratic women are who we need to win this fight,” said Emerge President A’shanti Gholar. “This past cycle, we saw numerous women of the New American Majority break barriers and trail-blaze paths for other women to follow. And this year we’re continuing our mission to reach more and more New American Majority women. When people see themselves reflected in leadership, they are energized into action. With more than a thousand Emerge women in office and a record number expected to run at all levels of government this year, we can change the face of politics long into the future. We just have to put in the work.”

To date, Emerge has trained more than 5,000 women to run and more than 1,000 alums currently in elected office.
