Her first position was with the New Orleans City Council which required her to be a part of the essential recovery team in response to Hurricane Katrina and propelled her in the realm for leadership at the local level. Letitia served as the District Director of Public Affairs, Marketing and Government Relations for the Coastline Community College District. In this role she promoted educational opportunities and the success of students at Coastline Community College. Her professional career has also allowed her to serve as Executive Director for the American Academy of Pediatrics Orange County Chapter, a Government Affairs Director for the New Orleans Metropolitan Association of Realtors, a Government Relations Manager for the American Red Cross, and a legislative aide to the Georgia General Assembly. Letitia is the founder of Black Professionals in Orange County, a group committed to supporting the professional development needs of young and emerging African-Americans in Orange County and the founder of Lean In OC, a circle of women dedicated to supporting each other’s success in career and community.
Letitia was in a four-person race for three open city council seats—her three opponents were conservative men who campaigned together as “Team Tustin” and used the slogan “Keep Tustin Great.” Letitia won her race and is the first African-American woman to serve on the Tustin City Council.
