VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS TO DELIVER KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT EMERGE 20TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION ON APRIL 30 IN SAN FRANCISCO
WASHINGTON, D.C. AND SAN FRANCISCO (APRIL 28, 2025) – Vice President Kamala Harris will attend and deliver the keynote address at an event honoring the 20th anniversary of Emerge, the nation’s largest network of women elected officials and candidates, in San Francisco on Wednesday, April 30.
Emerge was born out of Harris’s bid for San Francisco district attorney in the early 2000s when her closest advisors decided there needed to be a better way to support women in seeking elected office. In the 20 years since, Emerge has trained over 6,500 women, with 1,200 actively serving in elected office across the country, while Vice President Harris has continued to be a trailblazer for women in politics.
“Vice President Harris is the original Emerge woman,” said A’shanti F. Gholar, president and CEO of Emerge. “She continues to be a champion for Emerge and an advocate for elevating women in elected office. She is an honorary co-founder of our organization, and we look forward to honoring our legacy together as we keep up the fight for a better future.”
The Kamala Harris Trailblazer award will be presented to New Mexico State Senator Cindy Nava.
Other notable speakers include former U.S. Congresswoman and current Democratic nominee for Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger, Michigan State Senator and candidate for U.S. Senate Mallory McMorrow, former Houston City Council Member and candidate for U.S. Congress in TX-18 Amanda Edwards, activist and candidate for U.S. Congress in AZ-07 Deja Foxx, Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin, and more.
