Florida’s six-week abortion ban is the continuation of a long line of assaults on our reproductive freedom by Republicans. Today, women in Florida wake up with fewer rights than they had yesterday, and our country has yet again inched closer towards Republicans’ master plan to enact a nationwide abortion ban. It’s a somber reminder of the fragile state of our democracy and how quickly our fundamental freedoms can be stripped away.
When our elected officials fail us, we know what we have to do–replace them. At Emerge, it’s more important than ever for us to continue our work to recruit and train Democratic women, especially women of the New American Majority, to run for office at every level and win. It’s these women who will defend our democracy, safeguard our reproductive freedoms, and champion policies that will lead us into a brighter future.
These attacks won’t stop, and it’s up to us to take a stand and end this continuous chipping away of our rights. That starts with changing the faces of who leads us.
