She has served as a community volunteer and on the boards of The United Way of Greenville County, Local Boys Do Good (the governing organization for Euphoria Food, Wine, and Music festival), Artisphere, Upstate Forever, The Greater Carolina Chapter of JDRF, and as a founding member and board member for Emerge South Carolina. Most recently, she served as chair of the board for Emerge SC and became an Emerge “Sister” by taking part in the Emerge SC Virtual Bootcamp in June 2020. Susan was born in Gainesville, Florida, where she attended the University of Florida, earning a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications. She started her professional career as a news anchor for WMAZ-TV in Macon, Georgia, then went on to work in Public Relations at The University of Florida, Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, Emory University Hospital, and Emory’s Winship Cancer Center in Atlanta. In 2000, Susan and her husband moved to Chicago, where she served as a board member for The Court Theatre at the University of Chicago, and a docent for the Frank Lloyd Wright Robie House. Susan and her husband, Mike, have five children.
