EMERGE TO HOST NEW CANDIDATE TRAINING PROGRAM FOR FORMER FEDERAL WORKERS

Free, three-part virtual series begins April 1

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 21) – Emerge, the nation’s largest network of women elected officials and candidates, today announced a new training program specifically tailored to help former federal workers explore a path to public office – including those who have resigned, left, or had their positions terminated as a result of the actions of the Trump administration.

The free training program, titled Emerge Rising: From Civic Engagement to Elected Office, will help equip these women with the knowledge and tools to run for office, seek appointments, or participate in policymaking in their community, their state, and our country. Emerge Rising will include specific education on topics applicable to former federal employees, such as life beyond the Hatch Act, while also incorporating key lessons and actionable advice from Emerge’s existing training programs that have helped the over 1,200 Emerge alums currently serving in office win their races.

The three-part virtual series, which can be taken individually or sequentially, begins next week.

“The best government workers and elected leaders are both driven by a commitment to public service and the good of their communities. Emerge is here to help chart the path from one to the other and everywhere in between,” said A’shanti F. Gholar, president and CEO of Emerge. “While the current administration is cutting essential services and putting Americans out of work or at risk, Emerge’s new training program will help former federal employees continue their civic engagement, including equipping them with the tools they need to run for office and win.”

“For nearly two decades, Emerge has always been committed to helping where it matters most. And right now, Emerge is proud to be there to provide former federal employees with practical, actionable guidance as they look towards what’s next,” said Jill Barkley Roy, Director of Emerge Action Fund and leader of the Emerge Rising training program.

About Emerge

Emerge is the nation’s largest network of Democratic women elected officials and candidates. Emerge was born out of Kamala Harris’ bid for district attorney in the early 2000s when her inner circle saw the need for a program to train women on how to run for office and win. Today, they have more than 6,000 program alums nationwide and 1,200 alums currently serving at all levels of government.
