Why is your work at Emerge important?
Voters want candidates that relate to their lives and that look like the community they’re supposed to represent. Unconventional candidates and fresh new faces means more Democratic victories. We all win when we have more NAM women at the table.
Who in politics inspires you?
California Secretary of State Shirley Weber. While living in the Jim Crow South, her family couldn’t vote, due to fear of retaliation. After moving to California, they helped establish polling places in their neighborhood in order to make voting accessible. And now, not only does Sec. Weber oversee the largest election system in the country, but fought for much needed protections for poll workers, and led the fight to restore voting rights to formerly incarcerated
What do you like to do in your free time?
Figure skating, reading, and most recently learning how to fish!
