Senior Political Partnerships and Programs Manager

Do you want to recruit and train the next generation of New American Majority women to run for office? Are you someone who is skilled at training, working with partners and developing programming for the political, non-profit or advocacy space who cares about getting Democratic women elected and appointed to all levels of office?

Emerge is seeking a Senior Political Partnerships and Programs Manager for a short term, 12-month role that will expand capacity for our best-in-class training programs. This individual will manage recruitment and outreach for candidate trainings; innovate and update training curricula; work with partners to host events like Step Forwards and educational series; as well as plan and program continuing education series for Emerge’s 5,500 alumnae and counting.

The Senior Political Partnerships and Programs Manager will report to the Political Director and is a full-time position remotely or based out of our Washington D.C. office. The position will require some weekends and/or evenings work. This role is program-specific and shall be funded one full year from the start date. Extension of contract is based on receipt of additional program funding.

What You’ll Do

The Senior Political Partnerships and Programs Manager will be skilled in training, relationship management and have an eye for detail to manage administrative aspects of the role.

Training:

  • Facilitate recruitment and selection process including managing application system, responding to applicant questions, researching potential applicants and coordinating the selection process;
  • Draft and distribute recruitment related social media posts, emails and talking points;
  • Oversee all operational and logistical needs for virtual, hybrid and in-person training programming;
  • Collaboratively create, modify, and execute the training program;
  • Cultivate relationships with trainers nationwide and maintain a database of available trainers based on subject matter expertise;
  • Train boot camp, signature and supplemental program participants as needed;
  • Serve as main point of contact for trainees throughout the program;
  • Coordinate the day-of for trainings, including room set up, material printing and assembly, snack and lunch preparation, and packing up after training;
  • Summarize and participate in training debriefs and evaluations;
  • Manage Step Forwards and other Emerge training events as they arise.

Relationship Management  

This role will engage with a variety of partners, both internally and externally to collaborate on programming.

Partners

  • Foster relationships with partners to identify opportunities for collaboration;
  • Execute Emerge trainings for partners; 
  • Represent Emerge at speaking engagements and training sessions when appropriate.

State Affiliates

  • Provided direct training support, including Train-the-Trainer sessions;
  • Compile, create and share new recruitment materials for Emerge state affiliates;
  • Train Emerge state affiliate staff on Emerge training, develop resources and provide ongoing support through candidate trainings they are leading;
  • Host office hours to serve as a thought partner and to troubleshoot challenges;
  • Assist with coordinating state first day trainings, equity and justice trainings, and step in to train or execute trainings if necessary.

Alumni

  • Execute continuing education plan to educate alumnae on pertinent issues in the campaign space; 
  • Coordinate a communications calendar for alumnae engagement over various channels including social media and email; 
  • Conduct outreach to alumnae and track metrics of success; 

Administrative

  • Copy, edit, update and answer questions about the website; 
  • Manage submission of receipts to accounting system; and 
  • Complete additional surrounding logistics for events and training (paperwork,  tuition payment, evaluation completions, etc). 

Who You Are

We are seeking candidates with deep training experience, ideally in the campaign,  nonprofit or advocacy sectors. While experience in a similar role in the political sector is not required, a commitment to the advancement of Democratic women in politics is. 

More specifically, you will have or be most or all of the following:

  • You have excellent interpersonal and relational skills, including competency working cross culturally and in diverse teams to create an equitable and inclusive environment;
  • You have 3-5 years of experience as a trainer and/or facilitator; 
  • You have experience building a curriculum and/or developing material for a  program, and sharing out that program; 
  • You have strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously;
  • You can create and maintain friendly and professional relationships with staff, partners and stakeholders that come from a rich mix across race, gender, sexual  orientation, gender identity and socioeconomic status and backgrounds; and 
  • You are familiar with Google Suite; NGP-VAN or other similar database tools; Zoom or other webinar/online meeting platforms; expense management  systems such as Nexonia; and online website management tools such as WordPress.

Requirements 

  • Some weekends and evenings are required. 
  • This position includes at least 10%-20% travel.

Salary

This is a full-time position remotely or based out of our Washington D.C. office. This  position is project-specific and shall be funded one full year from the start date.  Extension of contract is based on receipt of additional program funding. The salary  range is between $80,000 and $85,000 depending on experience.
