Since 2002, Emerge has trained more than 4,000 Democratic women and currently operates in 27 states across the country. We just came off an incredibly successful election cycle with more than 690 candidates on the ballot and a 60% win-rate. To ensure the ongoing success of our national training programs, and the impact of the candidates that they yield, Emerge is committed to a development strategy centered on sustainable and scalable revenue growth. Today, Emerge seeks an experienced, mission-driven Major Gifts Manager who will champion this goal and play an integral role in the organization’s growth.

THIS ROLE

Reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer, the Major Gifts Manager will develop and implement strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors capable of mid- and major-gifts between $5,000 to $25,000. The Major Gifts Manager will dedicate approximately 60% of their efforts to direct fundraising and will manage a portfolio of 150-200 donor and funder prospects across the country. Serving as the relationship manager throughout the solicitation cycle for their portfolio, a successful Major Gifts Manager will apply industry best practices to their efforts to qualify and cultivate mid to high level gifts for Emerge while broadening the funder pipeline.

RESPONSIBILTIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Fundraising + Strategic Portfolio Management

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward qualified donors and prospects, managing a portfolio of 150-200 mid to high-capacity relationships to meet annual revenue goals;
  • Manage prospect pipeline and continually strive to identify and engage new funders;
  • Drive proven results in donor retention and increased pledge and gift size;
  • Conduct and coordinate meetings, cultivation events, and other engagements to build meaningful personal relationships with donors;
  • Create personalized donor briefings, proposals, presentations, and reports as needed;
  • Work across the development team to create a clear case for support and other funder engagement strategies; and
  • Collaborate with organizational leadership on portfolio management and reassign donors accordingly.

Data Management

  • Track all relevant activity and data entry in the CRM;
  • Proactively participate in funder research efforts to expand the national pipeline; and
  • Implement a moves management system and facilitate best practices across the development team.

Philanthropic Excellence

  • Support the President’s donor engagement and outreach efforts for high net worth and VIP donors (i.e. calls and emails);
  • Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of local, state, and national priority projects and core organizational initiatives;
  • Support the management of the Emerge development interns; and
  • Productively contribute to a culture of trust, transparency, and efficiency.

In addition, Emerge is seeking the following specific qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-4 years of individual fundraising experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the principles and best practices of major gift fundraising;
  • Experience staffing and supporting a principal or an organization’s leadership fundraising efforts;
  • Outstanding stewardship and relationship management skills;
  • Skilled at working cross functionally with colleagues, as well as high-level volunteers and management;
  • Goal oriented with a proven track record of striving to meet and exceed fundraising benchmarks;
  • Ability to drive, manage, and delegate project work and maintain flexibility while meeting deadlines;
  • Strong work ethic and interest in being part of a dynamic, fast-paced team;
  • A passion for electoral politics and the organization’s mission is strongly preferred; and
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.

JOB LOCATION AND SCHEDULE

The Major Gifts Manager is a virtual role through 2021. While a preference is for candidates based in Northern California, all candidates are welcome to apply. Relocation will not be required for this position though occasional travel is expected when it is safe to do so.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time exempt position. The base pay for this position is between $60,000-$65,000 commensurate with experience.
