Emerge New Jersey taps Jannarone as executive director

Geri Jannarone will serve as Emerge New Jersey’s next executive director, the organization announced Monday.

“I’m thrilled to join such an outstanding organization,” she said. “At this critical time in our nation’s history, it has never been more important to elect women at every level of government. Here in New Jersey, women are underrepresented from the state house to Congress, and I am excited to help change that.”

Jannarone has lengthy experience in New Jersey politics. She managed Rep. Frank Pallone’s most recent re-election campaign and was previously vice chair and program director at Emerge New Jersey, which trains Democratic women to run for elected office.

She was previously director of advocacy and special campaigns for Parano and Associates, the firm of get-out-the-vote guru Dave Parano and a field organizer for Gov. Phil Murphy’s campaign. She founded Elect Women NJ and was previously state chapter leader for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

“I’ve followed Emerge for over a decade and admire the organization’s particular focus on uplifting the voices of Black, Brown, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, unmarried, and young women,” Jannarone said. “I look forward to using my skills, talent, and experience to implement new political infrastructure that will help bring New Jersey women to greater heights.”
