Alisha oversees the hiring, management, mentorship, and development of the senior leadership team and works closely with Emerge’s president and board leadership to set the strategic direction of the organization.
Alisha started at Emerge in 2010 as one of two staff members and has played a pivotal role in Emerge’s incredible growth over the last 10+ years. First serving as National Director, then Emerge’s first ever Operations Director, and most recently as the Chief of Staff, Alisha led the scaling and implementation of all the organization’s HR policies and financial systems. This included developing the organization’s first ever employee handbook, securing a competitive benefits package, professionalizing Emerge’s financial systems and setting up bi-costal offices. As the leader of staff responsible for recruitment and hiring, Alisha spearheaded the organization’s effort to scale up and helped to quadruple the Emerge team in just four years. This work laid the foundation and infrastructure needed to support Emerge’s national expansion efforts that moved its impact into the 27 states it serves today.
Prior to Emerge, Alisha served as the Training Assistant at EMILY’s List during the 2008 election cycle and spent time serving on the finance team for a U.S. Senate campaign where she managed the call time and a low dollar fundraising program.
Alisha graduated from the University of San Diego in 2002 with a B.A in Political Science and has a deep-seated passion for helping to elect more women at all levels of office. She lives in the California’s East Bay with her husband and two young, future Emerge alum, daughters. She spends her free time in her vegetable garden and working to teach her girls to be independent and intersectional feminists, while also convincing them they need to put their shoes on the first time she asks.
