Read moreRyanne Olsen is the Training and Curriculum Director at Emerge America. She comes to Emerge America after serving as the Executive Director of Emerge Massachusetts for almost three years. Under each year of her leadership, Emerge Massachusetts trained a record amount of Democratic women, growing almost ten-fold — growing from training 8 women in 2015 to training 79 in 2018. Ryanne has personally trained over two hundred and fifty women on topics including campaign strategy, field, messaging, fundraising, and preparing oneself to run. As Executive Director, Ryanne also increased the resources of the organization, raising a surplus every year and raising over $405,000 during her tenure. The Emerge Massachusetts alumnae won 72% of their races in the 2017 election cycle.
She has been a panelist and speaker numerous times at Harvard University, Northeastern University and Brandeis University, and has been featured in multiple stories in the Boston Globe and regional papers, television and radio, including National Public Radio (NPR).
Prior to her time at Emerge Massachusetts, Ryanne worked the Public Policy Field Organizer for Massachusetts Coalition for Adult Education. Ryanne provided and created advocacy training and resources for directors, teachers and students of Adult Basic Education programs and collaborated with SEIU 509 to build towards an ABE teachers union. Ryanne also was able to develop and implement a legislative strategy that increased the line item for Adult Basic Education in Massachusetts by $850,000.
Ryanne also has a deep history in political campaigns, serving on races from City Alderman to U.S. Senate. She has served in roles ranging from intern to campaign manager.Ryanne graduated from Northeastern University, summa cum laude with a dual degree in Political Science and Communications. She was a member of the Dean’s List, the Honors Program, and Pi Sigma Alpha (Political Science Honorary Society) and Lambda Pi Eta (Communications Studies Honorary Society). She was also active in Young Democrats of Massachusetts, Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, the NEU debate team.
Ryanne lives in Boston when she isn’t traveling for work or pleasure.
