My passions center around advocacy, international human rights, and cooking during my free time! My first experience with human rights and advocacy was through my time fundraising for Amnesty International – an experience that gave me my first taste of grassroots change and helped me better understand its importance. I also try to utilize my cooking skills beyond only satisfying my cravings, so I started a catering company that partners with local food banks to give a portion of the profit to these food banks.
Aside from my time at Amnesty and cooking, I also enjoy getting involved in my community and meeting new people. During my time as the VP of my school’s African Student Association and as a volunteer leader with the University of Washington’s Public Interest Research Group, I have been able to combine my passions for people, community, and advocacy into one.
As an incoming development intern at Emerge, my goals are to learn and contribute. I am so excited to be around such insightful women, and I hope to gain valuable skills and a better understanding of what it really takes to uplift and empower women in the political space while I am here. I hope I can also contribute my own attributes to the Emerge team in some way. My energetic personality, unique perspectives, and thoughtfulness are all strong suits of mine that I hope to bring, and I can’t wait to start working with Emerge!
