Former City Councilwoman Sandra Ramaker Passes Away

Sandra Ramaker, who was a member of the Mesquite City Council until the most recent election, has passed away.

“It is with great sadness that we advise Sandra Ramaker passed away overnight (Tuesday),” stated an email sent to Mesquite Monthly from the Mesquite to Moapa Democrats. “On behalf of everyone in the club, we send our deepest condolences to her family. We will miss her.”

Ramaker was elected to the Mesquite City Council in 2018 and completed a term that ended last fall. She was a 13-year resident of Mesquite and also served on the Virgin Valley Water District board from 2010 to 2016.

“Terribly sad,” Councilman Wes Boger posted on his Facebook page. “Sandy was a good natured, caring, classy woman, and she was my friend. She brought so much good to this community. I was blessed to get to know her over the last few years.
Praying for her family during this time.”
Congressman Stephen Horsford posted, “I’m saddened to hear the news of the loss of Sandra Ramaker.Sandra dedicated her life to public service as a member of the Mesquite City Council. My condolences to her husband Doug and family members.”
Emerge Nevada, an organization that helps women in the Democratic party run for office, posted, “We are so sad to share the passing of former Mesquite Mayor Pro Tem Sandra Ramaker, a Class of 2016 alum. Sandra was a dedicated & formidable rural Democrat who made many positive changes in her community. Our thoughts are with her family during this difficult time.”
She had been a volunteer with various organizations such as Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, Mesa View Regional Hospital, Kids for Sports Foundation, League of Women Voters, and others. She was also on the board of R.A.I.S.E. Mesquite.

“May her beautiful soul rest in peace,” was posted on the R.A.I.S,E. Mesquite facebook page.

Ramaker was from Flint, Michigan, and was retired from the medical field, according to her Facebook page.
