Washington, DC–In reaction to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris being elected the next president and vice president, Emerge President A’shanti F. Gholar released the following statement:
“We are thrilled that voters have elected Joe Biden as our next president. He is the perfect person to right the ship and set America on a path towards a brighter future after the nightmarish past four years. President-Elect Biden and his team have demonstrated that they are competent, capable and compassionate to the needs of everyday Americans. It will be exciting to see what the next four years bring.
“Millions of American voters have made history by electing the first woman Vice President. And Kamala Harris won’t just be the first woman Vice President–she will also be the first woman of color to serve in the role. I always say that if you can see it, you can be it, and I hope that this inspires more women of color to get involved in politics. It’s critical that we don’t stop here, and we look forward to seeing President-elect Biden’s administration continue to select women, particularly women of color, for key leadership and cabinet positions.
“As we leave the last administration behind us, we know we have so much work to do. The Biden Administration along with Democratic women elected to office across the country have an incredible opportunity to enact policies that strengthen our communities and safeguard our democracy.
