Mohur Sidwah

Mohur was born in India, spent her youth in Pakistan and gratefully chose to embrace the freedoms afforded to women in the U.S. Her mother gave her a choice when she was 19. She laid a burqa on her bed and said she could either climb into it or take the risk of going overseas on her own. Mohur made the choice immediately, and every single day, she is thankful for the possibilities this great country has to offer.
Mohur has lived in Tucson for over 25 years, first as a graduate student in
Anthropology at the U of A, then as a small business person, working as a
personal and career integration coach.
She has been active in Arizona politics for over two decades. She worked for
candidates ranging from city council to the presidency, beginning with Jim
McNulty in 1984. Mohur also worked to
defeat destructive propositions and initiatives, such as the 2 propositions
discriminating against same sex couples: Prop. 107 in 2006 and Prop. 102 in
2008.
Mohur has held a number of offices in the Arizona Democratic Party. She served the
legislative district as chair and was recognized in 2007 as one of the year's
outstanding district chairs. She has also served as vice chair of both the Pima
County Democratic Party and the State Democratic Party.
